5 _ V
' V
10 February 2000 `
• AGE-NC Project No 98-0426
I , ± Page 2 of 3 _
a
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) In accordance with EPA
' Methods 5030,
• Volatile aromatic compounds benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes (BTEX) in
' accordance with EPA Method 8260B, and
• Volatile organic compounds and fuel oxygenates methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE) di-
isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), tertiary-amyl methyl ether
(TAME), and tertiary butanol (TBA) In accordance with EPA Method 8260B
3.0. FINDINGS
Ground water flow direction and gradient were Inferred from data collected In the field, the impact
to ground water resulting from the unauthorized release of fuel hydrocarbons was quantified by the
laboratory data obtained from the ground water samples
. 3 1 RELATIVE GROUND WATER ELEVATION AND GRADIENT
The relative elevation of ground water In each well was calculated by subtracting the depth to ground
water from the surveyed relative casing elevations (Table 1) Depths to ground water ranged from
22 49 feet to 23 58 feet below the tops of the well casings Relative ground water elevations at the
site ranged from 76 42 feet In MW 1,to 76 53 In MW2 The relative ground water elevation at the site
decreased an average of 0 39 feet between the October 1999 and January 2000 monitoring events
` Ground water was within the screened Intervals In all three wells The ground water gradient was
calculated to be 0 0038 ft/ft directed N 33° E
I L
3 2 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
TPH-g was detected in the water samples collected from MW2 and MW3 at concentrations of 530
parts per billion(ppb, reported as micrograms per liter) and 600 ppb, respectively EthyIbenzene and
xylenes were detected In MW2 at concentrations of 6 4 ppb and 7 1 ppb, respectively BTEX ,
compounds were detected In the water sample from MW3 at concentrations of 55 ppb, 3 8 ppb, 29 ;
I ppb and 55 ppb, respectively Petroleum hydrocarbons were not detected In the sample collected
from MW 1 MTBE and other fuel oxygenates were not detected In any of the samples collected
IAnalytical results of water samples collected In January 2000 are summarized'or`i Table 2 The
• laboratory report (Alpha Analytical Inc Order No A00011805), chain-of-custody form and the
laboratory QA/QC report are included In Appendix B
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
ti
