s
• it
f
Mr. John Randall
{ April 20, 1990
Paae 2
P-2, respectively on Figure 1) . The final dimensions of the main
pit (p-1) excavation were approximately 30 to 80 feet in length
in a north/south direction, 20 to 60 feet in length in an east/
west direction, and 8 to 20 feet deep. The final dimensions of
P-2 (the Waste Oil Pit) were approximately 20-feet by 10-feet by
10-feet deep. The soils west of, and beneath, the approximate
locations of the two previously existing southern pump islands
were examined using a backhoe. During the January 29,1990
excavation, two tanks were encountered to the west of the
pr!--vious tank excavation whose existence had not been documented.
These tanks were removed on February 9,1990. The loc--tions of
the final excavations are shown on Figure 1.
Soils beneath the discovered tanks and in the vicinity of the
t "
southern tank islands were not impacted. The soils analyzed from
the former tank pit contained measurable concentrations of
gasoline hydrocarbons. The samples collected from the former
waste-oil pit contained measurable concentrations of Total Oil
and Grease. Concentrations of oil-and-grease in these samples
ranged from ND to 21 ppm.
The waste-oil pit samples were also analyzed for organic lead
F (Pb) concentrations and ethylene dibromide (EDB) concentrations.
Analytical results for all of these samples were below laboratory
detection limits for Pb and EDB. Laboratory results are included
in the summary on Table 1 and the laboratory reports are
attached. Sample locations are illustrated in Figure 1.
GROVNIACaTF.N
TECNxotncy,INC.
