Additionally, the excavation alongthe east pand xSouthlY
edges Cf the former tank pit mar be limited by proximity to
streets and sidewalks. The excavation vt.11 not be extended to a
depth which could potentially cause the collapse of local
sidewalks and streets.
Three areas will be excavated, The area around the former
waste-oil tank will be excavated to the apparent limits of
contamination. The area around the former fuel-tank pit,
starting at the northeast corner will be excavated to the
apparent limits of contamination unless such zxcavation could
i .., pose a threat to the streets acid sidewalk. Last, the soils west
Of and beneath the two southern pump i,` Iards will be examined
i }
using the backhoe. If evid6nce of contamination is encountered,
is
this soil will also be removed to the apparent limits of
contamination.
k^
During the excavation of all three areas, a GTI field
representative will Monitor the encountered levels of
hydrocarbons in the soils, based 0.1 these field observations,
soil samples will be collected for field-headspace analyses.
Analyses Will be performed using a portable photo-ionization
detector, (pID) , in accordance with the attached GTI Standard
Operating procedure (Sop) 11. Groundwater Technology, Inc.
px'op4ses to continue excavation until PID readings of field
samples drop below detection limits unless other considerations
force the excavation to be halted,.
c,xn:gnu ur.H
