i
f
t
The initial pilot test and the subsequent vapor extraction under
interim variances removed 13 ,116 pounds of hydrocarbons from the
soil and ground water beneath the site. Vapor recovery is
occurring from three areas of past documented soil contamination,
the tank field excavation (EX) , the eastern product dispenser
island (Pl ) and the western product dispenser island (P3-Swarm) .
Also various ground water monitoring wells are utilized,
specifically MW1 and 14W5 with occasional use of MW3 , see Table 1 .
VAPOR RECOVERY RESULTS
The vadose zone vapor recovery wells (P1 , P3-Swarm and EX)
contributed little to the total recovered hydrocarbons during the
operation of the vapor recovery system under the variances , P1 =
1 . 3 pounds , P3-Swarm = 561 . 4 pounds and EX = 127 pounds , see Table
2 .
The ground water monitoring wells have produced the majority of
the hydrocarbons recovered at this site during the operation of
the system prior to the authority to construct: MW1 = 2464. 25
pounds , MW3 = 11 . 53 pounds , and MW5 = 8394.91 pounds
As of June 10 , 1992, the total system has recovered a calculated
total of 13557 . 94 pounds of hydrocarbons, 441 . 96 of which have
been produced since the beginning of operations under the
Authority to Construct.
As of June 10 , 1992 , P1 has produced 1 .97 pounds of hydrocarbons or
an additional 0 . 67 pounds since the beginning of operation under
the Authority to Construct. This vapor recovery well has been
depleted of vapors since April 14, 1992 and has not been used for
vapor extraction since April 21 , 1992 , see Table 1 .
Vapor extraction well P3-Swarm has produced 575 . 21 pounds of
hydrocarbons , an additional 13 . 78 pounds since operation under the
Authority to Construct, this well is currently producing 0. 63
pounds per day, see Table 1 .
Vapor extraction well EX has produced 128 . 17 pounds of
hydrocarbons , an additional 1 .04 pounds since operation under the
Authority to Construct, this well is currently producing 0 . 02
pounds per day of hydrocarbons , see Table 1 .
As of June 10 , 1992 MW1 has produced a total of 2504 . 26 pounds , of
which 40 . 01 pounds have been produced during operations under the
Authority to Construct.
i
As of June 10 , 1992 MW5 has produced a total of 8810 . 70 pounds , of
which 415 . 79 pounds have been produced during operations under the
Authority to Construct.
Monitor well , MW 3 has not been used for vapor extraction during
the operations under the Authority to Construct.
R604 vapor, 6/19/92 , p. 7
