k
R604 :UPDATE 11-JULY, 1992
E
TOTAL PETROLEUM HYDROCARBONS IN GROUND WATER
I Floating Product
CE
No floating product has ever been observed in any of the
monitoring wells .
' Dissolved Petroleum Hydrocarbons in Ground Water (TFH-EPA METHOD
It 5030 ) .
ISr ; i ' Dissolved petroleum hydrocarbons , gasoline range, were not
detected in the samples obtained from monitoring well MW7 .
BTEX IN GROUND WATER (EPA Method 602)
No BTEX's were detected in monitoring well MW7 , see Table 2A.
E TOTAL PETROLEUM HYDROCARBONS IN SOIL - CONFIRMATION DRILLING.
Three proposed borings were to be drilled and sampled to confirm
that the petroleum hydrocarbons in soil have been abated at P1 ,
P3-Swarm and southeast of the tank excavation near SB2 . The
drilling took place on July 20 - July 22 , 1992 , see Work Plan.
Field screening with a HNu Photoioni.zing Detector with a 10 . 2 ev
bulb revealed that minor soil contamination still existed. A
total of 10 soil sample barirngs were drilled ( SB3 , SB4 , SB5 , SB6 ,
SB7 , _ SB8 , SB9 , SB10 , SB11 and slant boring SB12 ) . Sample results
obtained from these borings are presented in Table 1 .
P1 - AREA
Field screening of the cuttings and samples obtained from the
borings indicated that the P1 area has been remediated. Sample
boring SB4 was below detection limits for Benzene, Toluene and
Ethyl benzene and only the 35 foot depth sample showed Gasoline
range hydrocarbons (TPH-g) at 6 mg/L and xylenes at 0 . 6 mg/L. , see
Table 1 .
P3-Swarm - AREA
Three confirmation sample borings were drilled near P3-Swarm,
( SB5 , SB6 and SB7 ) . Only SB5 had detectable levels of TPH-g ,
i ethyl benzene and xylenes . Benzene and toluene were below
detection limits for all samples. SB5 showed samples below the
I detection limits for benzene and toluene with ethyl benzene of
0 . 14 mg/L at the 20 foot depth and xylenes rangeing from 0 .08 mg/L
to 2 .1 mg/L. Gasoline range hydrocarbons (TPH-g) were 100 mg/L at
the 20 foot depth , 91 mg/L at the 30 foot depth and below
jdetection limits at the 35 foot depth, see Table 1 .
 E
I I
1 ;
E I
I
page 3
f
