• <br /> 4 <br /> Tosco Corporation A Subsidiary of Phillips Petroleum Company ,lune 27 2002 <br /> Tosco Service Station No 4409 1502 El Dorado Street Stockton CA <br /> groundwater monitoring well installations are provided as <br /> Attachment B <br /> • Soil Selection and Analysis. Soil samples will be collected at 5-foot <br /> intervals and will be sent under chain-of-custody procedures to a <br /> California state-certified laboratory Soil showing positive readings on a <br /> PID or at least one sample for every fifteen feet of drilling will be <br /> analyzed for TPHg, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, total xylenes <br /> (collectively BTEX), and MtBE by EPA Method 8260B (single run) <br /> • Monitoring Well Development and Sampling. After installation, <br /> the monitoring wells will be developed by rigorously surging each <br /> well over the length of the screen interval, and purging approximately <br /> 10 casing volumes of water After well development, groundwater <br /> samples will be collected from the newly installed wells and sent <br /> under standard chain-of-custody procedures to a California State- <br /> certified laboratory The groundwater samples will be analyzed for <br /> TPHg, BTEX, and MtBE by EPA 8260B (single run) Field <br /> procedures for groundwater monitoring well development and <br /> sampling are provided as Attachment B <br /> • Well Surveying. Upon completion of well construction, the wells <br /> will be surveyed by a licensed surveyor to a local benchmark relative <br /> to mean sea level The groundwater gradient will be interpreted <br /> utilizing wellhead elevations and depth-to-water measurements <br /> • Soil and Water Disposal Soil cuttings generated during drilling <br /> operations will be temporarily stored on-site and covered with plastic <br /> sheeting pending characterization and disposal Soil cuttings will be <br /> removed by Tosco's disposal contractor to an appropriate disposal <br /> facility Water generated during steam cleaning will be temporarily <br /> stored in DOT-approved 55-gallon drums pending transport by <br /> Tosco's disposal contractor to an appropriate disposal or treatment <br /> facility Soil cuttings and purge water drums will be temporarily <br /> stored on-site for approximately 4 to 8 weeks <br /> • Report. A report will be prepared after completion of necessary <br /> fieldwork The report will include soil boring logs, soil and <br /> groundwater analytical results, chain-of-custody documentation, and <br /> conclusions <br /> SCHEDULE <br /> SECOR is prepared to initiate fieldwork following the approval of the work plan, <br /> receipt of off-site access agreements and well construction permits obtained from the <br /> SJCEHD A report documenting the findings of the installation of monitoring wells is <br /> I%Tosco Marketing%44091Work Plans\AddtGonal Assessment WP doc <br />
