thoroughly steam-cleaned between borings to eliminate the possi-
bility of cross--contamination. Drilling permit applications for
the two properties are attached to this workplan, with the
necessary fees.
3. The rig will be equipped with either a 18" California Modi-
fied Split-spoon sampler or wireline operated continuous coring
equipment to enable obtaining soil samples as required.
4. .moil samples will be visually examined & described, and a
portion of each core will be screened with a PID meter for
evidence of contamination. This will be done by placing a
portion of the soil from the metal sleeve in a plastic bag; it
will be promptly sealed and allowed to set for a few minutes to
allow any gases present to volatize prior to inserting the probe
from the PTD meter into the bag and recording the reading.
Selected portions of the cored material will be preserved at
least every 5 feet from 20' to approximately 65' , (15--20' above
the water table. ) Soil samples will be taken under the direction
of the geologist on location, using properly cleaned metal. tubes.
Additional soil samples may be obtained if the geologist fools it
is necessary to do so.
5_ Soil samples will be briefly described, and promptly sealed
and preserved on ice pending tranfer to a State Certified
laboratory for analysis. At the completion of operations, or
sooner if deemed necessary, the preserved soil samples will be
delivered under proper chain of custody to FGL laboratory with
instructions to test for BTEX & TPH-G, (EPA Method 8015M/8020, )
using detection limits as specified by the San Joaquin Co. EHD.
6. Removed spoil from the auger flights and unpreserved core
material will be stored in properly marked and sealed drums and
stored on site pending the results of the laboratory analysis.
Any fluids producing during steam cleaning or sampling operations
will also be stored on site in properly marked containers for
later disposal..
7. Upon reaching the desired depth, a water sampling device,
(Hydropunch or BAT, ) will be lowered through Lite hollow-seem
augers & driven into the soil below the auger fligh s LuiLl i
groundwater has been encountered. A minimum of uwo ul is cuzue L
water samples will be obtained from each soil boring as directed
by the geologist. The samples will be promptly sealed, labeled
and preserved pending transport to FGL laboratory for analysis.
8. Upon completion of the above operations, each soil boring
will be promptly grouted from total depth to the surface with a
4
