23 January 2015
AGE Project No . 06- 1457
2 . 1 . PRE- FIELD WORK ACTIVITIES
Applicable site assessment permits will be obtained from the SJCEHD and
encroachment permits will be obtained through the City of Stockton . In addition , a health
and safety plan will be updated in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health
Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities ( National Institute for
Occupational Safety and Health Administration , U . S . Coast Guard and U . S .
Environmental Protection Agency , 1985) . Prior to mobilization , each proposed boring
location will be clearly marked and a utility clearance obtained through Underground
Service Alert .
2 .2 . SOIL BORING ADVANCEMENT
A total of three intermediate soil borings ( 139 , B10 and B11 ) will be advanced east and
downgradient of the site utilizing a truck or track mounted drilling rid_ equipped with 8
inch hollow stem_ augersfFiaure 3) . The soil borings will be advanced to minimum depth
of 80 feet below surface grade for soil sample collection .
Soil samples will be collected from the boring at five-foot intervals between 5 and 80
feet bsg . However, field personnel may adjust the frequency and method of sampling in
consultation with an AGE Professional Geologist.
A grab groundwater sample will be collected from approximately 50 feet bsg (coarse
grained sediment) and at the base of eacli'lihe borings to evaluate vertical migration of
the hydrocarbon plume . Procedures for advancement of soil borings and sampling are
presented in Section 3 . 0 . Groundwater samples will be analyzed by a State of California
Department of Public Health (CDPH )-certified laboratory for the following constituents:
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH -g ) in accordance with
EPA Method 8015 Modified ; and
• Benzene , toluene , ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX constituents) and fuel
additives tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA) , di-isopropyl ether ( DIPE) , methyl-tertiary-
butyl ether (MTBE) , ethyl tertiary butyl ether (ETBE) , tertiary amyl methyl ether
(TAME) , ethylene dibromide (EDB) and 1 , 2-dichloroethane ( 1 , 2- DCA) by EPA
J Method 8260B .
Laboratory reports for groundwater analysis , testing methods and laboratory quality
assurance/quality control (QA/QC) , and sample chain of custody documentation will be
- presented in a report with findings and recommendations .
Advanced GeoEnvironmental Inc.
