EI Dorado Street
Stockton, CA 95206
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has received and reviewed
Quarterly Status Update Report-2 d Quarter 2012, dated July 11, 2012, and the ground water
sample results for sampling that occurred on July 12, 2012, both submitted on your behalf by your
consultant Stratus Inc. and has the following comments.
Ground water contamination in the on-site source area remains extremely high and must be
remediated. A soil and ground water remediation system has been installed at the site. The
current on-site remediation system is not operating as designed. Currently soil vapor extraction
(SVE) is operating, but no ground water extraction is occurring. The SVE is not removing an
appreciable contaminant mass (< 1 lbs/per day). The existing ground water extraction wells are
not being utilized as designed, due to project budget funding problems.
If ground water extraction will not implemented, other ground water cleanup technologies need to
be evaluated in order to enhance ground water cleanup and achieve ground water objectives in a
more timely manor., One consideration would be to utilize the existing ground water extraction or
existing vapor extraction wells for in-situ air sparing in conjunction with the on-going SVE.
Please submit a ground water remediation alternative technology evaluation and work plan to the
EHD by November 1, 2012.
If you have any questions please contact Harlin Knoll at (209) 468-3442, or by email at
hknollasicehd.com.
Sincerely,
Harlin Knoll, REHS Nuel C.
