15 June 2004 <br /> i AGE-NC Project No 01-0815 <br /> Page 2 of 8 <br /> I ' <br /> I The sample sleeves were labeled, stored on ice and transported under chain-of-custody to Cal Tech <br /> Environmental Laboratories (CTEL), a State of California Department of Health Services (DHS)- <br /> certified analytical laboratory <br /> IThe sampling equipment was washed in an Alconox solution and rinsed with water prior to each <br /> sampling run to minimize cross-contamination <br /> 212 Logging <br /> Soil was extruded from a second brass sleeve and screened for the presence of organic vapor using <br /> an organic vapor meter (OVM) equipped with a' photo-ionization detector (PID Thermo <br /> I Environmental 58013, 10 0 eV, calibrated to isobutylene), the OVM readings were recorded on the <br /> boring log The soil was then visually described in accordance with the Unified Soil Classification <br /> System (see Appendix B) <br /> • 2 13 Well Completions <br />' Pilot bonag s MW1 and MW3 were completed as ground water monitoring wells using 2-inch <br /> p <br /> diameterPVC casing,with 0 020-inch slotted screen installed from approximately 35 to 55 feet bsg, <br />' MW2 was completed in a similar manner with slotted screen installed from approximately 25 to 45 <br /> feet bsg, and MW4 was installed in a similar manner with slotted screen installed from <br />' approximately 30 to 50 feet bsg The filter pack (No 2112 Lonestar sand) was installed from total <br /> depth to 1 foot above the slotted screen,and a nominal 2-foot bentonite chip plug was then installed <br /> above the filter pack and hydrated The wells were then grouted to near the surface with portland <br />' cement, and water-tight, traffic-rated well boxes were installed over the wells As-built well <br /> diagrams are depicted on the boring logs in Appendix B <br />' 2 1 4 Laboratory Analyses of Soil Samples <br />' Selected soil samples were analyzed for <br /> Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) in accordance with EPA <br />' Method 8015 Modified, <br /> Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX) and methyl tertiary-butyl ether <br /> (MTBE) iri accordance with EPA Method 8020, <br /> 1 <br />' Advanced Geo Envirvnmental,Inc <br /> 1 <br />
