Mr. Wayne Deitz • • June 25,2008
Workplan—Groundwater Sampling Page 4 of 5
EPA Method 8015M -TPH as Diesel and Motor Oil
EPA Method 6010 - LUFT 5 Metals (Cadmium, Chromium, Nickel, Lead, Zinc)
All samples will be labeled, and stored in an ice-filled cooler pending delivery to the laboratory
for analysis. At the completion of the job all samples will be transported under standard chain-
of-custody procedures and delivered to a state accredited fixed laboratory for analyses. As
necessary, the sampling equipment will be decontaminated on-site between groundwater samples
to minimize the likelihood of cross-contamination.
Following the completion of groundwater sampling, any temporary well casing will be removed
and the borings will be backfilled to grade using neat cement with 5% bentonite.
For quality control/quality assurance (QA/QC), ROKEN will also prepare one (1) duplicate
groundwater sample and one (1) trip blank sample which will be analyzed for the following:
EPA Method 8260b -VOCs,TPH as Gasoline, 7 fuel additives and 2 lead scavengers
EPA Method 8270 - Semi Volatile Organic Compounds (SVOCs)
EPA Method 8015M-TPH as Diesel and Motor Oil
EPA Method 6010 - LUFT 5 Metals (Cadmium, Chromium,Nickel, Lead, Zinc)
Groundwater samples will be collected, stored, handled, and delivered to the laboratory
following EPA chain-of-custody prpcedures. The chain-of-custody form will document sample
collection times and date/time when the samples were delivered to the laboratory.
ROKEN estimates that the laboratory analyses can be completed within five (5) days or less. If
compounds of concern are detected, additional investigation may be necessary to characterize the
distribution and extent of those compounds in the subsurface.
Investigation derived waste (IDW) such as drill cuttings, groundwater sampling purge water
and/or sample equipment decontamination rinse water(if any) will be containerized in a DOT
certified 55-gallon drum pending necessary profiling and disposal.
REPORTING
Once the laboratory provides the analytical results, ROKEN will process the data and prepare a
letter report presenting a site description, sampling methods and procedures, summary of analytical
results, and a summary of findings with recommendations, if any. The report will also include site
map(s)with approximate sample locations and laboratory analytical reports. ROKEN will provide
a report to its SHI within 14 days following receipt of sample results. The report and any
necessary regulatory notifications will also be provided to SJCEHD according to SJCEHD
permit requirements.
Regulatory notifications regarding the current compliance status of the on-site USTs will be
addressed soon as a separate matter.
4
