10 September 2012
AGE Project No. 11 - 1847
r
3 .4 . WELL DEVELOPMENT AND SURVEY
Development will consist of a combination of bailing to remove the major portion of fine-
grained sediment from inside the well , surging to flush out or draw in sediment from the
filter pack, and additional bailing to finish the removal of sediment. Development activities
will be continued until field parameter (pH , electrical conductivity, and temperature)
readings have stabilized . Additionally, each well head elevation and GPS location
coordinate will be surveyed by a licensed surveyor.
k
k 3 .5 . GROUNDWATER SAMPLING PROCEDURES
Y
Groundwater sample collection will be performed in accordance with the CVRWQCB
guidelines and sampling protocols (Tri-Regional Water Quality Control Board
Recommendations for Preliminary Investigations and Evaluation of Underground Storage
r Tanks) .
I
3 .5 . 1 . Static Water Level Measurements
i.
Before purging and sampling during groundwater monitoring events, static water level will
be measured using a Solist water level meter. Water level data will be recorded to the
nearest 0 . 01 -foot from a reference point marked of the top of the PVC well casing . Before
and after each use, the electric water level indicator will be washed in an Alconox solution
and rinsed with water.
3 .5 .2 . Well Evacuation
Subsequent to measurement of depth to water and prior to sampling , wells will be purged
using a using a disposable polyethylene bailer or dedicated Teflon tubing used in
conjunction with a Waterra inertial pump. To ensure groundwater samples are
representative of the formation, rather than water standing in the well casing , wells will be
purged until : 1 ) a minimum of three casing volumes is removed from the well ; and/or 2 ) the
field-measured groundwater parameters pH , temperature and electrical conductivity have
stabilized . However, if a well is purged dry prior to evacuating three casing volumes, a
groundwater sample will be collected following 80 percent recovery of groundwater level
within the well or within 8-hours of well evacuation .
Purge water, free-product, and decontamination water generated during the groundwater
sampling activities will be contained in DOT-approved drums which will be appropriately
Advanced CeoEnvironmental, Inc.
