EI Dorado Street <br /> Stockton, CA <br /> Based on conversations with and correspondence from your consultant, Geological <br /> Technics, Inc. (GTI), San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health <br /> Division (PHS/EHD)is providing this letter to clarify items in our August 1, 2000, letter. <br /> That letter was to summarize discussions of the July 26, 2000, meeting you attended at <br /> PHS/EHD. <br /> It was agreed at the meeting that the April 11, 2000,work plan prepared by GTI would <br /> not be implemented. A new work pian to define the vertical extent of the groundwater <br /> contamination in the vicinity of the suspected source area (the former dispenser location) <br /> will be submitted to PHS/EHO by August 25, 2000. <br /> GTI stated that the 2000 feet well survey discussed in Appendix A of the Tri-Regional <br /> Board Staff Recommendations had been completed. The report of this survey is to be <br /> submitted by August 25, 2000, <br /> The Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board is now requiring analysis for <br /> 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2 DCA), 1,2-dibromoethane (EDB), ethanol and methanol, in <br /> addition to petroleum constituents currently being analyzed for in soil and groundwater <br /> samples from the site. Ethanol, methanol, 1,2 DCA, and EDB are to be analyzed for by <br /> EPA Method 82608. This method is already being used to test for the 5 fuel oxygenates <br /> in samples from this site so there should be little additional laboratory cost. Some <br /> laboratories are capable of running a compitste suite of petroleum constituents and fuel . <br /> i additives by EPA Method 82608, thereby sAving considerable cost. <br /> The domestic well located at 60 Castle Street has been impacted by gasoline <br /> contaminants. This well is no longer being used (considered abandoned) and must be <br /> destroyed under permit and inspection of PHS/EHD pursuant to San Joaquin County <br /> Well Standards, Section 6.1. Since the well has been impacted with gasoline <br /> contamination feom your'site, you are responsible for the proper destruction of the well. <br /> In order to determine the best method of destruction for this well, a down hole video log <br /> must be performed. A report on the well video and a proposal for the method of well <br /> destruction will be included in the 3'd quarter Quarterly Monitoring Report to be submitted <br /> by September 29, 2000. A final destruction plan, permit application and permit fee for <br /> the well destruction must be submitted to PHS/EHD by October 15, 2000. <br /> A Division of San Joaquin County Health Can Services <br />
