The sediments range in age <br /> from Recent C&eclaysuproducedibyyrepeatedand reworkingtoffthends, <br /> gravels , slits, <br /> outwash from the Sierras <br /> Relief is very flat, less than 5' /mile, with drainage to the <br /> southeast towards the Sacramento-Stockton Delta area. The <br /> Calaveras River is about one mile to the north-northeast, and <br /> iles to the south. PLATE II from a <br /> Mormon Slough is roughly 2 m <br /> USGS topographic sheet, shows the location of the property in <br />' relation to other nearby features. <br /> SOIL CLASSIFICATION_ <br /> ' According to the 1952 publication issued by the University of <br /> California, Berkley, the soil is this area is known as Stockton <br /> Adobe Clay. It is a dark grey to brown alluvial soil derived as <br /> 1 outwash from basic igneous sources, (le, the Sierra Nevada Bath- <br /> oljth. ) It is considered to have imperfect drainage, having <br /> hardpan subsoil layers generally underlain with unconsolidated <br /> material. The Storie Index, 28, gives 1t a classification as <br /> poor_ PLATE III is a portion of a soils profile map from the <br /> above publication_ <br /> ' DEPTH TO GROUNDWATER <br /> Based upon the fall 1992 water table map issued by the San <br /> ' Joaquin County Flood Control District, PLS ATE IV 1 groundwater <br /> was measured at between60'wate0r' levelsthavesrisentasnmuchras 5' <br /> recent data indicates that <br /> since those measurements were made. However, based upon pub- <br /> lished data, the highest water level in the last 10 years was <br /> measured at about 27' bgl at this site <br /> ' LQCATION OF NEARBY WELLS. <br /> The wells that the Flood Control District uses for water level <br /> measurements are shown on the attached PLA T...__V__�, which reveals <br /> ' that there are no control wells in the immediate vicinity of the <br /> site Due to time constraints, County files were not searched in <br /> order to locate any additional commercial, domestic, or ground- <br /> water monitoring wells.
