J.
r
Due to the proximity to B-1, MW-201 will be free drilled to a depth of 50 feet bgs. Soil
k samples will then be collected continuously from 50 feet to total depth with a modified
California split-spoon sampler. Samples will be collected for geological and laboratory
1 evaluation. Samples for laboratory analysis will be collected using the SimulProbe sampling
tool. A boring log for B-1 is included as Figure 2 and a 3-dimensional cross section of the
site is included as Figure 3.
I
It is proposed to drill MW-201 to approximately 110 feet below ground surface. •Soil and
pore-water samples will be collected by use of a SimulProbe sampling tool at geologically
different units. See Section 3.2 for SimulProbe procedure.
MW-101 will be free drilled with an 8-inch outside diameter hollow stern auger to a depth
E determined in the field by the geologist and county inspector after review of field conditions
I
from MW-201.
3.2 Sample Collection with the SimulProbe
' The SimulProbe allows a soil sample to be collected at the exact interval from which the }
water or soil gas sample is collected thus providing correlative information on the sorbed
portion of the contaminated zone. Furthermore the SimulProbe`s design reduces the
possibility of cross contamination from shallower borehole waters.
}
` After the SimulProbe groundwater sampling tool is advanced into the saturated zone the tool
is retracted to expose the screen. The sample collection chamber is allowed to fill under
i
