Fujimoto, M.D., M P.H., Acting Health Officer ' <br /> 445 N San Joaquin Street • P O Box 388 • Stockton, CA 95201-0388 <br /> (209) 468-3420 <br /> OC) F D---)y <br /> STEPHEN VALENTINE <br /> 6232 HEMET AVE <br /> STOCKTON CA 95207 FEB 2 7 1995 <br /> RE Steve and Gene's Service SITE CODE 2080 <br /> 2315 North El Dorado Street <br /> Stockton CA <br /> San Joaquin County Public Health Services Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) has <br /> reviewed the October 1994 Interum Report and Results of Groundwater Investigation (report) <br /> prepared by William J Hunter and Associates for the above referenced site <br /> The report summarizes all work to date Results of all analyses performed on soil samples <br /> submitted from five soil borings and the results of analyses of groundwater monitoring from the <br /> newly installed monitoring well are included in the report The recommendations in the report <br /> . are to perform an investigation to determine if a possible offsite source exists and that additional <br /> monitoring wells may be required to determine the direction and extent of the plume <br /> PHS/EHD has the following comments in response to the conclusions and recommendations <br /> stated in the report <br /> 1) Results of laboratory analysis of samples taken from ground surface to 31 feet below <br /> grade from borings B-1, B-3 and B-4 indicate that soil in this area is non detectable for <br /> constituents of concern Each boring was drilled to a total depth of 31 feet <br /> 2) Results of laboratory analysis of soil samples taken from B-2, which was drilled to a total <br /> depth of 36 feet, and B-5 (completed as MW-1), which was drilled to a total depth of 70 <br /> feet, indicate soil contamination begins at 36 feet and continues until groundwater is <br /> encountered at 60 feet <br /> 3) Current data indicates the possibility of soil contamination in the area of B-1, B-2, B-3, <br /> and B-4 from 36 feet to groundwater Additional investigation in this area may be <br /> necessary to determine closure eligibility for this site <br /> 4) Results of laboratory analysis of soil samples from MW-1 at 16 and 21 feet indicate that <br /> soil used to backfill the former UST overexcavation contains waste oil at a concentration <br /> of 160 ppm Soil contamination at this concentration exceeds the maximum allowable <br /> level to remain in place as determined by the Leaching Potential Analysis in the Leaking <br /> Underground Fuel Tank Manual and requires remediation <br /> A Dmmon of San Joaquin County Health Lary tilryilll , <br /> RECEIVED r L-L) Z '- <br />
