Gasoline Station at
2320 North El Dorado Street in Stockton, California
Dear Ms. Ratliff:
This correspondence addresses the factors affecting the leaching
potential of contaminants found in soil at the subject site. Field
notes taken during the excavations identify the site soil as
cohesive, competent clay and silty clay which typically exhibit low
permeability. The soil samples that indicated product piping leaks
were collected at a shallow depth of approximately 1 to 2 feet
below grade. Over-excavation to a maximum depth of 4 . 5 feet below
grade was performed to remediate the targeted soils. Laboratory
analysis verified the success of over-excavation. The resulting
excavations were modified further to accomodate the placement of a
: new, double-wall fiberglass piping system. The levels of xylenes
and toluene are marginally above LUFT leaching potential analysis
recommendations to protect ground water. Given the characteristics
of the soil and the depth to ground water, Aegis considers the risk
to ground water to be negligible. Therefore, site closure is
requested of the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division.
= - Thank-1'.^L'---for- yo r,,cooperation In thls..matter_._
Sincerely,
AEGIS ENVIRONMENTAL, INC.
Larry Braybrooks
Staff Geologist
cc: Diane Lundquist, Shell Oil Co.
Douglas Sheeks, Aegis Environmental , Inc.
GEOLOGISTS ENGINEERS GROUND WATER SCIENTISTS
