 f
CHRONOLOGY
2450 S. EL DORADO STREET, STOCKTON
04/18/02 The date of a work plan for soil investigation. During performance of
geotechnical work at the site contaminated soil was encountered at depths of 8
to 15 feet. A Phase I review of the site was conducted and there were no
indications of underground storage tanks (UST's) or above ground storage tanks
existing on the property. A railroad spur was located on the property in 1952.
I'
05/10/02 On this date 5 soil borings were advanced. Soil contamination was found in
borings B2 and B5 at 5, 10, 15 and 20 feet below grade. This work is
documented in the Phase It Site Assessment Report dated May 21 2002, by
Advanced GeoEnvironmental . Inc. (AGE) and Final Results-Limited Phase II
Environmental Site Assessment dated May 23, 2002 by Construction Testing and
Engineering (CTE). In November 2002 two UST's were found near B5 but the
source of the-contamination in the area of B2 in unknown.
06/06/02 On this date the Environmental Health Department (EHD) left a message for
Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB), Spills, Leaks,
Investigations and Cleanup (SLIC) unit about overseeing the corrective action at
this site since UST's did not appear to be the source of contamination.
07/10/02 On this date a consultant left a message that they had found paint cans, and
metal at the site. '
i
07/24/02 On this date two more geoprobe borings were performed at the site to vertically
define the extent of the soil contamination and obtain a water sample. PB1 was
located near B2 and BP2 was located near B5.
09/04/02 The date of the CVRWQCB-SLIC .letter documenting approval of excavation of
contaminated soil and collection of grab water samples after the excavating was
completed.
08/15/02 The date of Subsurface Investigation Report that discusses excavation of
exploratory trenches where building materials, automobile body and engine parts
were found and.advancement of three geoprobes, two in July 2002 and one in
August 2002. PB1 and PB2 were advanced to investigate the vertical extent of
the contamination in the areas of B2 and B5. PB3 was advanced to investigate
the lateral extent of the contamination north of B5. A grab ground water sample
was collected from PB2 and the results showed low levels of contamination.
11/12/02 On this date the•EHb verified that a redwood UST had been found in the area of
the PB2/B5 locations.
11/22/02 On this date a second redwood UST was found .near the one found on 11/11/02.
11/26-27102 On this date the UST's were removed. The redwood walls were.surrounded by
bricks and the redwood bottom had a cement pad underneath it. One soil
sample was collected from the soil between the redwood bottom and the cement
pad (UST1-100) and the concentrations of total petroleum hydrocarbons as
diesel (TPH-d) were 28,000 mg/kg. 'The other soil samples were collected
