NRC
ENVIRONMENTAL
SERVICES
16 April 2007 a SEACOR company
Bulk Transportation
3032 South El Dorado
Stockton, California
ATTN. Mr. Andrew Woods
LETTER REPORT: RESULTS OF SOIL STOCKPILE SAMPLING:
3032 SOUTH ELDORADO, STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA
Mr. Woods,
NRC Environmental Services Inc(NRCES)collected soil samples from the above site on
6 April 2007 and submitted them to McCampbell Analytical, Inc. (MAI) of Pittsburgh,
California on behalf of Bulk Transportation. The locations of the two discreet soil
samples collected were witnessed by Harlin Knoll, Senior Registered Environmental
Health Specialist of the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department. A site
sketch showing the locations of soil samples is attached to this brief letter report.
Samples were collected by driving clean stainless steel tubes into freshly exposed soil.
Soil was packed tightly into the tubes to preclude head space. The ends of the tubes were
sealed with snug fitting plastic end caps and labeled with a project unique designation.
Samples SP1 and SP2 were sealed inside plastic bags and placed into a cooler on top of
crushed ice. A chain of custody was initiated and maintained in the field and is included
with the attached laboratory report.
Both samples were subjected to analysis for the volatile hydrocarbons benzene, toluene,
ethylbenzene, and xylenes(BTEX)as well as for total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) as
diesel/motor oil.
Neither sample was found to contain reportable concentrations of any of the BTEX
compounds. Both samples were, however, found to contain TPH as diesel/motor oil.
Sample SP1 was reported to contain 22 mg/kg TPH as diesel and 110 mg/kg TPH as
motor oil. Sample SP2 was found to contain 6.4 mg/kg TPH as diesel and 47 mg/kg TPH
as motor oil.
Two copies of this brief letter report with attached site sketch and laboratory report are
included. One copy should be forwarded to the attention of Mr. Harlin Knoll at San
Joaqin County with an attached cover letter prepared on Bulk Transportation letterhead
stating that you have reviewed the information contained in this brief letter report and
that to the best of your knowledge the contents are true and correct.
Please advise us immediately if any of the information described in this brief letter report
is not correct to the best of your recollection.
1605 Ferry Point,Alameda, CA 94501
Tel: (510)749-1390•Fax: (51 O)749-4150
