j <br /> 1 .0 INFORMATION <br /> This Health and Safety Plan (H & SP) describes basic safety requirements for the soil <br /> and groundwater exploration at the California Tank Lines, Inc. (Cal Tk) facility , located <br /> at 3105 South EI Dorado Street, in Stockton California . The location of the site is <br /> located in Figure 1 . <br /> The provisions of the plan apply to the employees of Environeering , Inc. (EI) , and its <br /> subcontractors working on this phase of the project. The subcontractors may elect to <br /> increase the safety requirements for their work with prior concurrence of EI , as <br /> described and accepted in writing . <br /> This H & SP describes the expected potential hazards that may be encountered on <br /> site. If the site, working conditions or scope of the work for this phase of the project <br /> change before or during the field work, this H & SP shall be revised in keeping with <br /> these changes by EI . <br /> 2.0 SCOPE OF WORK <br /> The scope of work for this phase of the project is described in El's 4 January 1999 work <br /> plan entitled DETERMINATION OF THE EXTENT OF CONTAMINATION FROM <br /> FORMER UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANKS, CALIFORNIA TANK LINES, INC. , <br /> 3105 SOUTH EL DORADO STREET, STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA. In summary , the <br /> field work shall include the completion of the following tasks: <br /> 1 . Excavation , logging and sampling of three (3) soil borings to a depth of 50 feet and <br /> two (2) consecutive non-contaminated five (5) foot samples. <br /> 2 . Converting two (2) soil borings into groundwater monitoring wells. <br /> 3.0 GENERAL SAFE WORK PRACTICES <br /> It is El's safety policy to take every reasonable precaution in the performance of work to <br /> j protect the environment and the health and safety of employees and the public, and to <br /> prevent property damage. With respect to hazardous agents, this protection is <br /> provided by limiting exposures of people, releases to the environment, and <br /> contamination of property to levels that are as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA) . <br /> Environeering, Inc.
