i
I
WORK PLAN FOR INVESTIGATION OF REPORTED RELEASE
FROM FORMER UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANKS
CALIFORNIA TANK LINES FACILITY
3105 SOUTH EL DORADO STREET
STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA
SIERRA-PACIFIC PROJECT NO. 96-620.01
1.0 BACKGROUND
This scope of work has been prepared in response to a reported release of waste oil or other
petroleum hydrocarbons detected during removal of two underground storage tanks (USTs)
from the above named property in August of 1990. The tanks were 6,000 gallons and 550
gallons in size, and had reportedly been utilized for receiving waste oil from trucking operations .
The site is located at 3105 South El Dorado Street in Stockton, California. The site is an
essentially level rectangular parcel underlain by laterally discontinuous beds of fluvial sediments .
Groundwater on the site, based on regional information, is expected to lie below the depth of
exploration proposed herein. The following scope of work is proposed.
2.0 PURPOSE OF INVESTIGATION
The purpose of the current investigation is to determine the extent of the reported release of
+ dO
petroleum hydrocarbons (waste oil) at the site. Impacts to soils in the vicinity of the former
tanks will be assessed in accordance with the Tri-Regional Guidelines. Excavation, logging, and
sampling of two soil borings is proposed in the vicinity of the former UST excavation. The
proposed locations for the borings is shown on Figure 3 . The borings will be positioned
adjacent to the former UST excavation. Logging of the borings will assist us in determining the
nature of the subsurface soils. Soil samples will be analyzed for petroleum hydrocarbons. This
information will be used to determine the extent of the reported release, and will aid in the
selection and design of possible remediation efforts.
Sierra-Pacific Groundwater Consultants, Inc. 1
 l
