a Work Plan For Investigation of Reported Release
i California Tank Lines Facility
1 Stockton, California
Siena-Pacific Project No. 96-620.01
i
licensed (C-57) drilling contractor for this work. The two soil borings will be excavated in the
vicinity of the former UST excavation, ono"iatheautici n,
i
e geo o ' Each of the borings will
f. be logged by a geologist. Excavated soils will be monitored for the presence of petroleum
( I
hydrocarbons using a photoionization detector, as well as by observing and smelling the material for
field-evident petroleum hydrocarbon contamination. Soil cuttings generated during the drilling
process will be placed in DOT-approved 55-gallon steel drums, properly labeled, and left onsite
'- I pending laboratory results. Soil samples will be obtained from each boring at intervals of five feet
below ground surface, down to a maximum sample depth of 20 feet. Samples will also be collected
I upon encountering any field-evident contamination, or just above the water table, if either condition
is encountered.
f
9
Three soil samples collected from each boring will be submitted to Exelchem Environmental Labs,
for analysis, as described below. After drilling is completed the two soil borings will be grouted with
a cement grout, and the asphalt paving will be restored at the top of each hole to match the existing
pavement.
J
Task 3 - Laboratory Analyses
JSix soil samples will be analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel by EPA Method 8015-m,
for benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, total xylenes (BTEX), and MTBE by EPA Method 8020. The
I i
soil samples will also be tested for oil and grease by EPA Method 413 . 1 in accordance with the Tri-
Regional Board Staff Recommendations of the California Regional Water Quality Control Board
(CRWQCB) dated August 10, 1990. The sample analyses will be completed in approximately 10
working days by Exelchem Environmental Laboratory.
Task 4 - Report Preparation
A report of the work completed and the findings of the investigation will be prepared at the
completion of the field work and upon receipt of analytical laboratory results,
it
i
Sierra-Pacific Groundwater Consultants, Inc. 3
