5.2 Recommendations
The most important activity is to remove the floating oil from MW-2 on a relatively
frequent basis (twice per month or monthly, depending upon the rate of"re-charge" of
the oil) This will serve the two-fold goal of removing substantial contamination from
the former site of the used oil UST, and bringing MW-2 to a condition to allow reliable
measurement of depth to water and to secure a sample for analysis At this point, El will
determine the direction of groundwater flow and elevation gradient These data, together
with the results of analyses of groundwater from MW-2, will provide further insight into
the extent of contamination of groundwater
El recommends sampling the three groundwater monitoring wells quarterly to develop
additional data on contamination levels, groundwater elevation and direction of
groundwater flow This will show whether contamination levels are decreasing now that
the apparent source has been removed, and will help to define whether any further
exploratory work, or remediation work, is required
Environeering,Inc.
