10 August 2001
AGE-NC Project No 97-0301
' Page 4of5
summarized in Tables 2 and 3 The laboratory reports (McCampbell Analytical Inc I D No 71331
' through 71337) and chain-of-custody forms are presented in Appendix C
' 4.0. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
The implications from the June 2001 ground water monitoring event are as follows
' Ground water flow direction for the area bound by wells MW-1, MW-3, MW-4 and MW-6
was inferred southeast at a gradient of 0 002 ft/ft or less (Figure 3), ground water flow
' direction for the area bound by wells MW-1,MW-2 and MW-6 was inferred northeast at a
gradient of 0 001 or less, ground water flow direction in the area of well MW-7 was inferred
to be toward the northwest at an undetermined gradient
' Ground water flow direction in the area bound by Cal Tank-Line wells MW-2, MW-3 and
MW-4 was inferred to be towards the southeast at a gradient of 0 004 ft/ft or less (Figure 3),
' ground water flow direction in the area of Cal-Tank Line well MW-1 was inferred to be
toward the northeast at an undetermined gradient
• Due to the low gradient at the site, slight variations in ground water measurements or
changes of recharge/discharge of the local ground water could greatly modify ground water
flow direction
' The ground water elevation at the site was within the screened intervals of wells MW-1
through MW-4 and MW-6,which yield samples fully representative of shallow ground water
conditions Conversely, the ground water elevation at well MW-5 is approximately 51 feet
' above the screen interval (drowned) and yields a sample representative of deeper ground
water conditions
' The core of the dissolved petroleum hydrocarbon plume appears to be located in the area
wells of MW-1 and MW-7, analysis of ground water samples collected from MW-1 and
MW-7 suggest the core of the plume is impacted by TPH-g, TPH-d, BTEX and 1,2-DCA,
' very low concentrations of MTBE, EDB and TBA have been detected at MW-1 indicating
that there is only a minor impact of these components
' The vertical extent of dissolved petroleum hydrocarbons is not fully defined at the site, the
lateral extent of the dissolved petroleum hydrocarbon plume is not fully defined toward the
southeast, east and northeast of the current area bound by wells MW-1 through MW-7
'
S.D. RECOMMENDATIONS
' Based upon data collected during June 2001, AGE recommends
Advanced GeoEnvlronmental,Inc
1
