To
destroy the entrained gasoline; a trailer-mounted Catalytic Thermal Oxidizer system will be
used to destroy the gasoline. To achieve complete destruction, propane fuel will be mixed
with the vapor prior to combustion. As the operation proceeds, the gasoline concentration of
the extracted vapor will decline substantially.,At some:"Point, the operating expenses of the
Catox system will become excessive, and the system will be replaced with a system of
activated carbon filters:
1.2.2 Scope of Work
r The tasks described in this Work Plan encompass the following principal elements.
• Install and operate a vapor extraction / air sparge system. The system will consist of 4
sparge and 6 vapor extraction wells. One vapor extractor and one sparge well are already
in place, 'and it will only be necessary to;drill three'!additional sparge wells and 5 vapor
extraction wells.
• The gasoline-laden vapors removed b the extractions's stem will be treated initially with a
g P Y Y Y
thermal catalytic oxidizer (Catox) system, and later with an activated carbon filtration
system to destroy the evolved air/fuel mixture by combustion.
• Prepare a report of the installation of the remedial system. Also complete four additional
quarterly`reports of the operation of the system.
Upon approval of this work plan by the LOP agency a detailed budget covering the first phase
will be prepared and submitted to the State USTCFP for pre-approval of the expenditures.
Prior to completion of the installation of additional air sparge and vapor extraction wells, an
additional pre-approval submittal will be completed for this work.
2937 Veneman Ave.,#B240 Geo-.Phase Environmental Inc.
