2.4 Monitoring Well Installation
In June 1992, monitoring well MW-1 was installed north of the former excavation. Toluene
was detected in soil samples from depths of 35, 40 and 45 feet at concentrations of 0.014
µglg(parts per million, ppm), 0.0093 ppm and 0.0075 ppm respectively. Xylenes were also
detected in sample B1-35 at 0.0097 ppm. Monitoring wells MW-2 and MW-3 were installed
in November 1992; MW-4 and MW-5 were installed in June 1993. No petroleum
hydrocarbons were detected in any soil samples from MW-2 through MW-5. Analytical
results of soil samples are summarized in Table 1.
TABLE 1
ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF SOIL SAMPLES
Western Lift
AgIg
Sample TPH as TPH as Ethyl-
ID Gasoline Diesel Benzene Toluene benzene Xylene
B1-35 ND ND ND 0.014 ND 0.0097
i
B1-40 ND ND ND 0.0093 ND ND
.
