I <br /> GROUNDWATER MONITORING WELL <br /> INSTALLATION AND SAMPLING <br /> ' Western Lift <br /> 3430 South E1 Dorado Street <br /> Stockton, California <br /> ' 1. 0 INTRODUCTION <br /> ' In accordance with a request from Mr. John Urrutia of the Sank of <br /> Stockton, Geological Audit Services, Inc. (GeoAudit) has installed <br /> two additional groundwater monitoring wells and collected soil and <br /> ' water samples at 3430 South El Dorado Street in Stockton, <br /> California (the site) . <br /> This report describes the installation procedures and presents the <br /> results of the soil and water sampling. <br /> ' 2.0 BACKGROUND <br /> 2. 1 Site Location <br /> The site is located in a flat industrial area south of Stockton <br /> (Figure 1) . The facility consists of a large warehouse and <br /> adjoining office and exterior fenced parking/delivery area (see <br /> Figure 2) . Cutter Lumber is located to the north of the site, and <br /> currently manufactures wooden -pallets. <br /> 1 2.2 UST Removal <br /> Three underground tanks were removed from the delivery area in June <br /> of 1991. Gasoline contamination was detected in three of the seven <br /> ' soil samples collected from the excavation, indicating that an <br /> unauthorized release of hydrocarbons had occurred and that an <br /> assessment of the site was required. Sample results were summarized <br /> in the Site Contamination Workplan dated July 24 , 1991. <br /> 2.3 Excavation <br /> The assessment of the site was performed in two phases. Each phase <br /> consisted of overexcavation followed by the collection and analysis <br /> of soil samples from the walls and floor of the excavation. The <br /> r excavation phases and sampling are described in the Preliminary <br /> Investigation and Evaluation Report (PIER) dated December 11, 1991. <br /> On 1 May 1992 , backfilling of the excavation was completed. The <br /> ' excavation was backfilled to grade with pea gravel. <br /> 2.4 Monitoring well Installation <br /> On 1 June 1992 , a single monitoring well was installed immediately <br /> north of the former tank excavation.
