i
Report—Vapor Extraction/Air Sparge Remedial System Page 2
Former Bank of Stockton/Western Lift Site
1 Project No. 102.3
• March 25, 2005
1.1 Site History
The subject Property has been the subject of remedial investigations from two separate
release sites. The site of the subject gasoline release was discovered near monitoring well
' MW-1 as a result of a groundwater monitoring event in 1996 at the Western Lift Site in
the southerly part of the subject Property (as shown in Figure 2). Review of historic
records revealed a former 1,000 gallon underground gasoline tank and an above ground
diesel tank were situated along the western Property margin in the north central portion of
the site. In March of 1998, seven groundwater monitoring wells were installed to monitor
the groundwater plume. Two wells, MW-1 and MW-4 still remain from the initial
Western Lift investigation near the south end of the Property. Field work and
groundwater monitoring completed at the site since 1997 show that a former leaking
' underground gasoline storage tank impacted the soil and groundwater with gasoline range
petroleum hydrocarbons.
' On August 1, 2003, a document entitled Report, Remedial Action Pilot Test And
Feasibility Study. Cutter Lumber / Western Li t Site, was submitted that describes the
pilot testing work mentioned above. As a part of that work, a vapor extraction well
' (VES-1) and an air sparge well (ASW-1) were drilled and constructed. These two well
have been retained and included in the final remedial system.
lie 1.2 Scope of Work
The work documented in this report encompasses the following principal elements.
• Drilled and constructed 3 new sparge wells and 5 new vapor extraction wells
• Installed the surface equipment needed to operate the new sparge and vapor extraction
' wells and one previously constructed vapor extractor. This included the installation of
necessary conveyance piping and manifold system centrally located to assure adequate
control of the remedial system.
2937 Veneman Ave.,#13240 Geo-Phase EnAronmental Inc.
