Report—Vapor Extraction/Air Sparge Remedial System Page 4 <br /> Former Manna Pro Site <br /> Project No 207 3 <br /> lie September 26,2003 <br /> 2.0 PILOT TEST SYSTEM INSTALLATION <br />' 21 Permitting <br /> Permitting for the on-site work included a drilling permit from the San Joaquin County <br /> Public Environmental Health Department (SJC-EHD) The San Joaquin Valley Unified <br /> Air Pollution Control District (SJVUAPCD) previously issued a Permit to Operate during <br /> the construction of the first phase of the implementation of the CAP <br /> 2.2 Soil Boring Installation <br /> In order to complete the system, a total of eighteen new soil borings were installed in the <br />' area of the release From April 7 through April 17, 2003 a BK-81 hollow stem auger <br /> drilling rig, owned and operated by Watermark Drilling Co (a C-57 licensed contractor), <br /> was used to drill the borings <br /> Borings that were later converted to vapor extraction wells were drilled with 12 inch o d <br /> hollow stemmed auger tools with 14 inch diameter bits The borings that were to be <br />' converted to sparge wells were drilled with 12 inch diameter bits During drilling, the <br /> borings were logged and sampled by a professional geologist supervised by a registered <br /> . geologist <br />' The borings were completed to depths 50 or 55 feet, depending on the intended pose <br /> of each boring Ten borings were designated as Vapor Extraction Wells (VEW A-2, A-3, <br /> tB-1, B-3, B-4, C-1, C-2, C-3, & D-2) and 8 borings were designated as Air Sparge Wells <br /> (ASW A-2, A-3, B-1, B-2, B-3, B-4, C-2, and C-3) All borings were later converted into <br />' service wells While drilling, all soil cuttings were placed in stockpiled for temporary <br /> storage pending profiling and proper disposal <br /> r2.3 Well Construction <br /> The following sub-sections describe the physical characteristics of each well constructed <br /> Upon completion, traffic rated well boxes were installed over each well and the well <br /> heads were equipped with lockable water tight well caps <br />' 2.31 Vapor Extraction Well Construction <br /> The vapor extraction wells (VEW) were drilled with 8-inch augers and then over drilled <br /> with 12 diameter augers and 14 inch diameter bits The following table describes the <br />' construction of the vapor extraction wells <br /> r2937 Veneman Ave,#B240 Geo-Phase Environmental Inc Phone(209) 569-0293 <br /> Modesto,CA 95356 Fax(209)569-0295 <br /> 1 <br />
