1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> This Health and Safety Plan (HSP) has been developed by ERM-West,Inc. <br /> (ERM) to establish the health and safety procedures required to minimize <br /> potential hazards to personnel who will be involved in the soil and <br /> ground water sampling activities planned for the Nortrax facility,located <br /> at 8835 South El Dorado Street,French Camp, California. A map of the <br /> site location and site plan is provided herein as Figure 1. <br /> The provisions of this HSP directly apply to ERM personnel and <br /> contractors who will be potentially exposed to safety and/or health <br /> hazards related to the project. This HSP does not directly apply to client <br /> personnel, although ERM will inform the client on the safety and health <br /> aspects of the work based upon the guidelines specified in this HSP. <br /> The procedures in this HSP have been developed based upon current <br /> knowledge regarding the specific chemical and physical hazards that are <br /> known or anticipated to be potentially associated with the operations to be <br /> conducted at the site. <br /> It is ERM's policy that activities covered by this HSP must be conducted in <br /> complete compliance with this HSP and with all applicable federal, state, <br /> and local health and safety regulations, including the California <br /> Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Cal/OSHA) Title 8, <br /> California Code of Regulations (CCR) 5192, and the Title 8,Subchapter 4, <br /> Construction Safety Orders, as applicable. <br /> On-site personnel who cannot, or will not, comply with the policies and <br /> requirements incorporated in the HSP will be excluded from project <br /> activities. Prior to the commencement of field activities, all ERM and <br /> subcontractor personnel covered by this HSP must review this document <br /> and sign and return the signature page to the Project Manager. A copy of <br /> this form is provided in the appendix section of the HSP. <br /> 1.1 SITE DESCRIPTION <br /> This section discusses the general history and physiography of the <br /> Nortrax facility.
