EWRONMENCAL INC ' r3330 Cameron Park Drive Ste 550 <br /> , VICE <br /> r Cameron Park California 95682 <br /> 03 DEC 5 p (530)676-6004-Fax (530)676-6005 <br /> December 3, 2003 <br /> Mr Michael Infurna <br /> San Joaquin County Public Health Services <br /> Environmental Health Department <br /> 304 East Weber Avenue, Third Floor <br /> Stockton, CA 95202 <br /> Subject Well Destruction Letter <br /> ARCO Station 2130 <br /> 7906 North El Dorado <br /> Stockton, California <br /> Dear Mr Infurna <br /> On behalf of Atlantic Richfield Company (ARCO), Stratus Environmental, Inc (Stratus) is <br /> submitting this letter to document the destruction of an off-site groundwater monitonng <br /> well at ARCO Station 2130 (the site), located at 7906 North El Dorado, Stockton, <br /> California (Figure 1) ARCO installed a groundwater monitoring well (MW-10) in the <br /> sidewalk on the south side of Hammer Lane (see Figure 2) in 1993 to evaluate groundwater <br /> quality south of the ARCO facility Well MW-10 was formerly monitored and sampled as <br /> part of the ongoing quarterly monitoring program at the site <br /> Hammer Lane has since been widened, and well MW-10 was damaged and paved over <br /> during the road construction activities Following completion of the new roadway, well <br /> MW-10 was located beneath a driving lane in eastbound Hammer Lane Since well <br /> MW-10 was damaged during the road construction activities, Stratus and ARCO decided to <br /> destroy well MW-10 Details associated with the destruction of well MW-10 are <br /> documented in this letter <br /> FIELD ACTIVITIES <br /> Prior to initiating field activities, Stratus obtained an encroachment permit from the City of <br /> Stockton Public Works Department (CSPWD), and a well destruction permit from San <br /> Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Department (PHS/EHD) <br /> Stratus retained Morrow Surveying, Inc , of West Sacramento, to identify the location of <br /> well MW-10 beneath the roadway surface The work area was marked 48 hours prior to <br /> work activities and Underground Service Alert (USA), CSPWD, and San Joaquin County <br /> • PHSIEHD were notified of the work schedule Copies of the encroachment permit and <br /> well destruction permit are provided in Appendix A <br /> P 1Bp-Arco for URS121301Correspondence12130_MW-10 well destruction doc <br />
