`./ `..J
19 September 2001
AGE-NC Project No. 01-0872
Page 4 of 6
The proposed probe boring locations maybe modified due to field observations or additional borings
may be advanced to determine the lateral extent.of-hydrocarbon impacted soil and ground water,
with approval by the PHS-EHD.
Each proposed boring will be advanced to 30 feet bsg or until the field observations and field
screening with an organic vapor meter(OVM)indicates that detectable petroleum hydrocarbons are
not present in the screened soil samples from two consecutive five-foot intervals.
Soil samples will be collected at 5-foot intervals beginning at 15 feet bsg in the former fuel UST
area,beginning at 10 feet bsg in the former waste oil UST area and beginning at 5 feet bsg adjacent
to the former diesel fuel dispenser extending to the total depth of each boring.Field procedures for
advancement of borings and collection of soil samples are presented in Section 4.2...
Selected soil samples from each probe boring will be submitted for laboratory analysis with
concurrence of the PHS-EHD. The selected soil samples will be analyzed by a State of California
Department of Health Services (DHS)-certified laboratory for the following constituents:
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline and diesel(TPH-g and TPH-d)by EPA
Method 8015 Modified;
• Volatile organic compounds including benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes
(BTEX)by EPA Method 8260B.
• Fuel oxygenates including methyl tertiary butyl ether(MTBE),tertiary-butyl alcohol(TBA),
di-isopropyl ether(DIPE), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether(ETBE) and tertiary-amyl methyl ether
(TAME) by EPA Method 8260M. 2v C-
3.3.
3.3. GRAB GROUND WATER SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
Grab ground water samples will be collected if ground water is encountered during the boring
process using a Geoprobe water sampling assembly. Samples will be collected into 40-m1 volatile
organic analysis (VOA) vials and 1-liter amber bottles as appropriate for the required analyses.
Ground water sample collection procedures are presented in Section 4.3.Ground water samples will
be analyzed by a DHS-certified laboratory for:
• TPH-g and TPH-d by EPA Method 8015 Modified;
• Volatile organic compounds including BTEX by EPA Method 8260; and
• Fuel oxygenates including MTBE,TBA,DIPE,ETBE and TAME by EPA Method 8260M.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
