These additional activities will include utility clearance and
Geoprobe sampling as described in the following sections.
Utility Grarmue
Prior to conducting intrusive activities at the Site, Underground Service Alert (USA) will be
notified of the proposed sampling and drilling activities and a dig alert number will be obtained.
Since Geoprobe drilling methods will be used at the Site, which limits the use of a hand auger to
clear utilities in the upper 4 to 5 feet, a geophysical survey will be conducted at the proposed
eight soil boring locations. This survey will be used to clear utilities and locate other subsurface
structures that may be present. Based on the layout of surrounding structtues and utilities and
the results of the geophysical survey, the Geoprobe locations will be selected and clearly
marked.
The existing Site-specific Health and Safety Plan will be on-site during the fieldwork.
Shallow Geoprobe test holes will be advanced to the water table [4 feet below ground surface
(bgs)] with either a tract-mounted or truck-mounted Geoprobe rig (depending on availability).
One soil and one grab groundwater sample will be collected from each probe hole using the
dual tube sampling method. A soil sample will be collected between approximately 1-3 feet bgs,
with a grab groundwater sample collected approximately 3 to 4 feet into the water table, or to
refusal, which ever occurs first. The groundwater sample will be collected through the
