Ms.Margetagorio .
March 9,2001
Page 2
Geoprobe sampling device using a disposable bailer, and transferred to laboratory provided
sample bottles.
The sampler will don new disposable nitrile gloves prior to handling each sample. Upon
retrieval, the sample will be prepared for shipment to the laboratory, labeled with the site name,
sample identification, date and time of sampling, and initials of the sampler. Samples will be
placed in a sealable plastic bag and placed on ice in a cooler pending transportation to the
laboratory. Sample information will be logged on a chain of custody form along with the
analyses to be run. The chain of custody will accompany the samples from the time of
collection to delivery to the laboratory.
Soil and grab groundwater samples collected (including field QC samples) will be submitted to
Applied Ph & C Laboratories (APCL) under chain of custody procedures and analyzed for
petroleum hydrocarbons (extractable) and other constituents using EPA Test Methods 8015M
and 8260.
The probe holes will then be backfilled with cement/bentonite grout as the outer casing is
removed from the hole. All non-disposable sampling equipment will be decontaminated
between probe holes and sampling locations.
fgattrrartDmmmiatimmd Waste Cma"noit
Non-disposable sampling equipment will be decontaminated between samples by a three-bucket
wash:washing with a non-phosphate detergent,rinsing in tap water,and rinsing again in distilled
water. Geoprobe equipment will be decontaminated with a high-pressure washer, if necessary.
Decontamination fluids and water will be stored in 55-gallon steel drums. The drums will be
labeled with the generator name, site address, boring number, contents, and generation date.
The Geoprobe method may generate a limited volume of cuttings. If generated, cuttings will be
stored in 55-gallon steel drums.
Disposable sampling equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) will be placed in
plastic bags labeled and stored with the drums.
sclha"e
Work described in this letter work plan will begin as soon as permits approval is granted from the
County. We have tentatively scheduled work for March 13, 2001. We expect Geoprobe sampling
activities to be completed in one day.
If you have any questions, please contact me at (949) 660-1070 (main number) or at (949) 260-
6156 (direct dial).
Sincerely,
BROWN AMCALDWELL
110/D laj'
Linda Conlan,RG.No.6943
Sr.Project Manager
cc: Mr.Peter Moore,Monierl-ifetile
P:\1vUeTile\PeUegn Fat \MnE\Addendum WKPLN4.doc
