Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95201
SUBJECT: Proposed Tank Abandonment at 230 West Elm Street
This letter is a follow-up to our letter of September 27, 1988 to which we
have had no specific response (copy attached) . In addition to asking for a
written response, we are providing the following additional information in
support of our request to leave the remaining underground piping in place:
1. During the course of reinstalling the new 2,000 gallon diesel tank
west of the tank to be abandoned, we had to overexcavate the hole
to approximately 16' depth. We encountered the old product lines
and were able to pull out most of the lines from the old tank and
west to the Public Safety Building. We have records of this
removal . No evidence of contamination was found. The remaining
product line runs from the tank southeast to the dispenser and
crosses under water, wastewater, storm and high pressure gas lines.
2. The two groundwater monitoring wells that were previously installed
were located such that they straddle the remaining product line.
These locations were determined in the field in cooperation with
District personnel . We see no need for additional wells.
3. Our contract with Town & County Contractor's includes the filling
of the tank. We wish to have them do this work as soon as possible
so they can complete their contract.
Please consider our request. We would appreciate receiving a written
response as soon as possible. If you wish to have an on-site meeting,
please contagt Richard Prima at 333-6706 at your earliest convenience.
. t 'N , u
.
