CC 18 . 0 ` DECONTAMINATION• PROCEDURES : r <br /> Decontamination. of equipment and personnel will be <br /> performed to limit the potential migration of <br /> L contamination outside any excavation area and designated <br /> work zones. All equipment, tools, and construction <br /> materials will be cleaned to remove grease, oil or <br /> L encrusted dirt, prior to leaving the construction area of <br /> the subject project. <br /> �1' o Equipment Decontamination: All equipment and tools <br /> L� used for construction work will be decontaminated <br /> prior to leaving the construction zone. Normal <br /> cleaning will consist of scrubbing to remove <br /> L encrusted materials followed by a water rinse using i <br /> a high-pressure low volume water spray or steam j <br /> cleaning unit . Containers of detergent solutions <br /> L will be available in the construction zone for <br /> cleaning of tools , boots , and gloves . <br /> LI o Decontamination will be performed at a designated <br /> equipment decontamination area in the construction <br /> zone . [dash water will be collected and .disposed <br /> of . <br /> o The undercarriage of all vehicles (e . g . , trucks, <br /> etc . ) will be cleaned prior to leaving the <br /> LQ, construction zone . <br /> o Personnel Decontamination: Decontamination of <br /> personnels' will be performed at a designated <br /> L location a't the perimeter of the construction zone. <br /> Decontamination will consist primarily of soap and <br /> water washings and water rinse of exterior <br /> L protective gear to remove contaminants, followed by <br /> doffing of the gear. Coveralls should be removed <br /> by turning the clothing inside out . A general <br /> sequence of doffing procedures is outlined below. <br /> The extent of washing required, or modifications to <br /> the sequence , may be specified as appropriate. <br /> Co Steps in Decontamination will be as follows : <br /> o Wash and rinse outer protective coverall <br /> o Wash work gloves and boots <br /> ri o Remove outer protective clothing <br /> o Rinse respirator <br /> o Wash hands and face <br /> 12 <br />
