CC 18 . 0 ` DECONTAMINATION• PROCEDURES : r Decontamination. of equipment and personnel will be performed to limit the potential migration of L contamination outside any excavation area and designated work zones. All equipment, tools, and construction materials will be cleaned to remove grease, oil or L encrusted dirt, prior to leaving the construction area of the subject project. �1' o Equipment Decontamination: All equipment and tools L� used for construction work will be decontaminated prior to leaving the construction zone. Normal cleaning will consist of scrubbing to remove L encrusted materials followed by a water rinse using i a high-pressure low volume water spray or steam j cleaning unit . Containers of detergent solutions L will be available in the construction zone for cleaning of tools , boots , and gloves . LI o Decontamination will be performed at a designated equipment decontamination area in the construction zone . [dash water will be collected and .disposed of . o The undercarriage of all vehicles (e . g . , trucks, etc . ) will be cleaned prior to leaving the LQ, construction zone . o Personnel Decontamination: Decontamination of personnels' will be performed at a designated L location a't the perimeter of the construction zone. Decontamination will consist primarily of soap and water washings and water rinse of exterior L protective gear to remove contaminants, followed by doffing of the gear. Coveralls should be removed by turning the clothing inside out . A general sequence of doffing procedures is outlined below. The extent of washing required, or modifications to the sequence , may be specified as appropriate. Co Steps in Decontamination will be as follows : o Wash and rinse outer protective coverall o Wash work gloves and boots ri o Remove outer protective clothing o Rinse respirator o Wash hands and face 12
