DIESEL/KEROSENE• <br /> v Effects of Overexposure: <br /> ACUTE: <br /> O EYES : May cause irritation, experienced as mild discomfort and <br /> seen as slight excess redness of eyes . First Aid: <br /> Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 <br /> minutes . Hold eyelids apart while flushing to rinse entire <br /> surface of eye and lids with water. Get medical attention. <br /> Protective Equipment: Chemical-type goggles or face shield <br /> v recommended to prevent eye contact . <br /> o SKIN: Prolonged or widespread skin contact may result in the <br /> absorption of potentially harmful amounts of material . First <br /> Aid: Immediately flush skin with large amounts of running <br /> water for at least 15 minutes. Remove comtaminated clothing <br /> and shoes . Get medical attention immediately. Wash clothing <br /> �- before reuse. Destroy non-resistant footwear. Protective <br /> Equipment: Protecive clothing such as uniforms, coveralls or <br /> lab coats must be worn . Launder or dry-clean when soiled. <br /> Gloves resistant to chemicals and petroleum distillates <br /> required . When handling large quantities , impervious suits , <br /> gloves, and rubber boots must be worn . <br /> o INHALATION: Vapors or mist may cause irritation of the nose <br /> and throat, headache, nausea , vomiting, dizziness, drowsiness, <br /> suphoria , loss of coordinatin and disorientation. In poorly <br /> ventilated areas or confined spaces , unconsciousness <br /> andasphyxiation may result. First Aid : Remove to fresh air. <br /> If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing <br /> �. is difficult, qualified personnel may administer oxygen. Get <br /> immediate medical attention . Protective Equipment: Airborne <br /> concentrations should be kept to lowest levels possible . If <br /> vapor, mist or dust is generated, use respirator approved by <br /> MSHA or NIOSFI as appropriate . Supplied air respiratory <br /> protection should be used for cleaning large spills or upon <br /> entry into tanks, vessels, or other confined spaces . <br /> o INGESTION: If more than several mouthfuls are swallowed, <br /> abdominal discomfort, nausea, and diarrhea may occur. <br /> Aspiration may occur during swallowing or vomiting resulting <br /> in lung damage . First Aid: If swallowed, get immediate <br /> medical attention. ONLY induce vomiting as directed by a <br /> doctor.
