A blanket permit for well destruction by
pressure-grouting was first obtained from the SJCEHD on November 24, 1997. The
permit and a copy of the appropriate State DWR requirements are included as
attachments to this report.
V&W Drilling Company of Rio Vista, California provided tremmying services at my
request. Mr. Steve Sasson of the SJCEHD was also on-site to witness the
abandonment activities.
The total depth and depth-to-water in each 2-inch inside-diameter (I.D.) well was
sounded prior to pressure grouting. Each well was pumped with Basalite 1.-,I1 cement
utilizing a tremmy pipe with a sealed valve attached to the top-of-casing:. Approximately
40 psi were applied to pump the cement through the perforated interval into`:the;aand
pack of each well, filling the casing with returns to the surface.
For a 2-inch 1.D. casing, the volume is 0.0218-cubic foot per linear foot. The rvofume of
cement pumped included an approximate 35% excess to ensure full perforation/sand-
pack penetration and returns to the surface.
