Interim Site Assessment Report
Village West. Marina
W.W. Irwin Project 033016.00
RECOMMENDATIONS
Based upon the lield observations and analytical results, W.W. Irwin recommends that the
following actions he taken:
1. Due to the present concentrations of hydrocarbon constituents remaining within the south
sidewall of the former tank pit, W.W Irwin recommends that further excavation and
sampling he conducted in order to define the extent of contaminant migration in that
direction.
2. W.W. Irwin recommends that additional excavation and sampling he conducted along the
north wall of the former tank pit. However, due to the limited access to this area, it may
become necessary to abandon in-place, the remaining hydrocarbon contaminated soil.
3. Due to the presence of a suspected confining clay layer at the base of the tank pit, W.W.
Irwin recommends that no additional excavation of the pit bottom he conducted in order
to prevent the potential influx of ground water into the tank pit.
4. It is recommended, upon completion of the additional excavation, that the tank pit be
s backfilled to within 10 feet of the surface with a coarse gravel and innoculated with a
preselected bio-formulation designed to reduce and degrade hydrocarbon contaminants of
this type. Following innoculation, W.W. Irwin recommends that the remaining portion of
the tank pit be backfilled with a. clean fill material and compacted to code specifications.
Finally, upon completion of your review, it is recommended that copies of this report be
submitted to i14r. Michael Collins at the Environmental Health Di,ision of the San Joaquin
County Public health Services, Stockton, and to the Central Valley Regional Water Quality
Control Board, Sacramento. Addresses of these governmental agencies are attached for
your convenience.
Shoul,l you have any q«estions regarding the information contained in this interim report,
or if we may otherwise be of,assistance, please contact our office at (800) 585-2085 or {209}
725-2085,
Respectfully submitted,
W.W.
