Interim Site Assessment Report
Village West Marina
W.W. Irwin Project 033016.00
Upon completion of the excavation activities, two bottom and four side wall samples were
gathered in the excavator bucket as directed by Mr. Collins, SJCPHS inspector. The soil
samples were then retrieved from the bucket of the excavator by driving a pre-cleaned hand
sampler containing a sterile two-inch diameter, six-inch-long stainless steel tube into the
gathered soil. The sample tube was immediately sealed with Teflon tape, capped, taped,
labeled and placed on ice to refrigerated storage for subsequent transport to a California
Department of Health Services (CA DHS) certified laboratory for analysis. Appropriate
chain of custody procedures were followed during sample handling.
LABORATORY ANALYSES
Each of the samples were analyzed for TP"-G by EPA Method 8015, BTEX components
(benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene, and total xylenes) by EPA Method 8020, and organic lead
per the California Luft manual. The findings of these analyses are presented in Table 1 and
the laboratory report is included as Attachment A.
TABLE 1
SOIL SAMPLE ANALYSES
JULY 20, 1993
(mg/kg)
y..
EPA
CALIF.
` METfIOD EPA METHOD 8020 LUFT
fy
Sal 5
12/87
SAMPLE ETHYL TOTAL ORGANIC
I.D.
