EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
1 This report details the results of the fourth quarter/annual 2011 groundwater monitoring
at the California Natural Products facilities in Lathrop, California. The work was
authorized by Mr. Lynn Forcum of California Natural Products (CNP) of Lathrop,
California. This monitoring report is required by the Central Valley Region of the State
of California Regional Water Quality Control Board's (RWQCB) Revised Monitoring &
Reporting Program No. R5-2003-0141.
' Fourth Quarter 2011
Groundwater samples were collected December 20 and 21, 2011 for laboratory
analysis during the fourth quarter of 2011 from three monitoring wells in the McKinley
Avenue Rapid Infiltration Area, located south of the CNP plant, and six monitoring wells
in the North and South Louise Avenue Application Areas.
' Groundwater quality was shown to have concentrations of pH within the acceptable
Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) ranges in all wells. Ammonia as N was not
' detected above the laboratory reporting limit in any of the nine monitoring wells
sampled.
rThe concentration of TDS ranged from 180 to 1,000 mg/I throughout the site. Most TDS
concentrations exceeded the recommended Secondary MCL (SMCL) of 500 mg/1
and/or the SMCL upper level (1,000 mg/1).
Nitrate as N concentrations ranged from 1.2 to 32 mg/I across the site. Four out of the
nine groundwater samples collected exceeded the nitrate as N MCL of 10 mg/l during
the Fourth Quarter 2011 monitoring event.
Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen (TKN) was detected in five of the nine groundwater samples
collected during the fourth quarter 2011 at concentrations ranging from 0.22 to 0.57
mg/kg. There is no RWQCB water quality goal for TKN.
101486.4/STO12R025 Page 1 of 20 February 1, 2012
Copyright 2012 Kleinfelder
