KLE9/tl9Ft NFELDER
MP ie.Right W RhOm
Total coliform organisms are at a concentration level of <1.1 Most Probable number
(MPN)/100ml for both the McKinley Avenue Area wells and the Louise Avenue wells.
During the fourth quarter 2011, the groundwater flow direction in the vicinity of the CNP
Plant Area was to the south and the flow direction in the McKinley Rapid Infiltration
Area was to the west. The groundwater flow direction in the Louise Avenue Application
Areas was calculated to be towards the west.
2011 Results
' Groundwater monitoring was conducted at the CNP facility during each of the four
quarters of 2011 . Groundwater elevations and samples were obtained from each of the
' nine monitoring wells located at the site. The groundwater flow directions and gradients
noted at the site throughout 2011 were generally consistent with previous findings.
Groundwater quality during 2011 for the monitoring wells displayed pH ranging from
7.07 to 7.41 in the McKinley Avenue Rapid Infiltration Area and 7.09 to 7.57 in the
Louise Avenue Application Areas, which were within the acceptable range for pH (6.5 to
8.5).
The TDS concentrations in the McKinley Avenue Rapid Infiltration Area ranged from
650 to 1,300 mg/l. The TDS concentrations in the Louise Avenue Application Areas
ranged from 180 to 1,200 mg/l. The majority of the detected concentrations of TDS
' exceeded the recommended SMCL (500 mg/1) and in some cases the SMCL upper
limits (1,000 mg/1).
Nitrate as N was detected in each well in the McKinley Avenue Rapid Infiltration Area
with concentrations ranging from 2.5 to 37 mg/I. In 2011 the MCL for nitrate (10 mg/1)
was exceeded in two wells [W-1 (second and third quarters) and W-5 (each quarter)].
In the Louise Avenue Application Area the nitrate as N concentrations ranged from 0.27
to 41 mg/l. The MCL was exceeded in L-2 and L-3 (all quarters), L-4 (second and third
quarters), and L-6 (fourth quarter only).
Ammonia as N concentrations were detected twice in 2011 in the McKinley Avenue
Rapid Infiltration Area with concentrations ranging from 0.10 to 0.16 mg/l.
