MONITORING AND REPORTING PROGRAM -2 -
PAT
2 -
PAT MITCHELL AND CALIFORNIA NATURAL PRODUCTS
WASTEWATER TREATMENT AND DISPOSAL FACILITY
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
Total Nitrogen Loading Rate lbs/acre/month Calculated, Monthly
BODS loading shall be calculated using the daily applied volume of wastewater, estimated
daily application area, and applicable results of effluent BODS. Non-working time shall not
be included in loading concentrations.
, Total nitrogen loading rates shall be calculated using the daily applied volume of wastewater,
estimated daily application area, and the most recent results of total nitrogen.
. LAND APPLICATION AREA SOILS MONITORING
The Discharger shall establish, with concurrence of Board staff, four soil profile monitoring locations and
one representative background location (i.e., in an area that historically has not received process
wastewater). The samples shall be collected and analyzed for at least the following constituents
immediately upon implementation of this MRP, and at the following frequency thereafter:
Constituents Units Soil Profile Frequency
Soil pH pH Standard' Annually,
Volatile Solids % Total Weight Standard' Annually,
Cation Exchange Capacity meq/100 g Standard' Annually,
Nitrate (as N) mg/kg Standard' Annually,
Kjeldahl-Nitrogen(as N) mg/kg Standard' Annually,
1 Samples shall be collected at 0.5 feet, 3 feet, and 6 feet.
, Samples shall be collected in September.
In addition, the Discharger shall maintain a log of discharges to the land application area. Notations shall
be made in a bound log book record which check is receiving wastewater, and observations of ponding
water, soil clogging, odors, insects, or other potential nuisance conditions. The notations shall also
document any corrective actions taken. A copy of the entries made in the log during each month shall be
submitted along with monthly monitoring reports.
GROUNDWATER MONITORING
Prior to sampling or purging, equilibrated groundwater elevations shall be measured to the nearest 0.01
foot. The wells shall be purged at least three well volumes until pH and electrical conductivity have
stabilized. Sample collection shall follow standard analytical method protocols. Groundwater monitoring
shall include, at a minimum, the following:
Sampling Reporting
Constituent Units Type of Sample Frequency Frequency
Groundwater elevation feet Measurement Quarterly Quarterly
pH S.U. Grab Quarterly Quarterly
Total Dissolved Solids mg/l Grab Quarterly Quarterly
Fixed Dissolved Solids mg/1 Grab Quarterly Quarterly
Nitrate as Nitrogen mg/1 Grab Quarterly Quarterly
