KLE/NFELOER
\` edyne v.aei:.nremsamon
1 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This report details the results of the Third Quarter 2011 and Annual Vadose Zone
monitoring at the California Natural Products facilities in Lathrop, California. The work
was authorized by Mr. Lynn Forcum of California Natural Products. This monitoring
report is required by the Central Valley Region of the State of California Regional Water
Quality Control Board's (RWQCB) Revised Monitoring & Reporting Program No. R5-
2003-0141.
Third Quarter 2011
Groundwater samples were collected September 14 and 15, 2011 for laboratory
analysis during the third quarter of 2011 from three monitoring wells in the McKinley
Avenue Rapid Infiltration Area, located south of the CNP plant, and six monitoring wells
in the North and South Louise Avenue Application Areas.
Groundwater quality was shown to have concentrations of pH within the acceptable
Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) ranges in all wells tested. Ammonia as N was not
detected above the laboratory reporting limit in any of the nine monitoring wells
sampled on the McKinley Avenue Rapid Infiltration and ranged from 0.19 to 0.33 mg/I,
ie, in the Louise Avenue Application areas.
The concentration of total dissolved solids (TDS) ranged from 500 to 1,200 mg/I
throughout the site. TDS concentrations exceeded the recommended Secondary MCL
(SMCL) of 500 mg/I and/or the SMCL upper level (1,000 mg/1) in some locations.
1 Nitrate as N concentrations ranged from 2.9 to 41 mg/I across the site. Only two of the
groundwater samples collected from the Rapid Infiltration Area and three in the Louise
tAvenue application area exceeded the nitrate as N MCL of 10 mg/I.
101486.4/ST011 R242 Page 1 of 17 October 31, 2011
Copyright 2011 Kleinfelder
