The plan was prepared in response to a
27 January 2004 Conditional Approval of Groundwater Monitoring Workplan. The workplan was
originally prepared for Provision G.2.b of Waste Discharge Requirements (WDRs) Order No.
R5-2003-0141. After reviewing the addendum, I have the following comments:
The addendum states Well W-5 is located upgradient of the 10.1 acre land application area, but review
of the contour maps provided in the addendum indicates, with the possible exception of the data
collected on 11/19/03, that Well W-5 is downgradient of the 10.1 acre land application area.
Kleinfelder's report fails to describe why the well should be considered upgradient. California Natural
Products may either select Well L-1 or a proposed well from the 29.7 acre land application area as an
upgradient well, provide justification for the use of Well W-5 as the upgradient well, or propose a new
well installation.
To complete the workplan,by 2 April 2004 please submit a selection of one of the three alternatives
provided above. If you have any questions on this conditional approval, please telephone me at
(916) 464-4616.
TIMOTHY .
