FIELD PROCEDURES <br /> All field procedures will be overseen by an AGE representative under the supervision of a California <br /> Registered Geologist Procedures for soil excavation,soil sampling,equipment decontamination and <br /> monitoring well installation are outlined below <br /> 41 SOIL EXCAVATION PROCEDURES <br /> Soil will be excavated using an excavator Soil will be stockpiled under and covered by plastic on the <br /> site Excavated soil will be field screened for the presence of volatile organic compounds using an <br /> OVM Based on OVM readings and field observations,excavated soil will be segregated into clean <br /> soil (if appropriate) and impacted soil, only soil exhibiting hydrocarbon odors or measured OVM <br /> readings will be transported for disposal The excavation will be backfilled with clean fill material or <br /> pea gravel <br /> The open excavation area will be surrounded by temporary fencing No AGE or subcontractor <br /> personnel will be allowed into any excavation greater than five feet bsg without proper excavation <br /> shoring and/or sloping techniques are in-practice and supervised <br /> The hydrocarbon impacted soil will be characterized pending disposal at Forward Landfill <br /> 42 EXCAVATION SOIL SAMPLING PROCEDURES <br /> Soil samples collected from the base and sidewalls of the excavation will be obtained using an <br /> excavator Soil samples will be collected from the bucket of the excavating equipment with a metric <br /> soil sampling hammer and one 6-Inch long by 2-inch diameter brass sleeve, from the excavated soil <br /> material The exposed ends of the sample sleeve will be covered with Teflon sheets, capped and <br /> sealed with tape <br /> Soil samples will be collected firom soil stockpiles by digging approximately one foot into the soil <br /> stockpile Soil samples will be collected by hand sampling methods using a stainless steel or carbon <br /> steel trowel,by pressing a metric soil sampling hammer and one 6-Inch long by 2-inch diameter brass <br /> sleeve into the soil stockpile <br /> Following sample collection,each sample sleeve will be labeled with the boring location,depth,time, <br /> date and sampler's initials Appropriately sealed and labeled samples wllI be placed in a chilled <br /> container under ice and transported under chain-of-custody procedure to a DHS-certified laboratory <br /> Advanced GcoEnvironmenlal,Inc <br />
