06 December 2004
AGE-NC Project No.04-1238
Page 3 of 6
consolidated alluvium, lake, playa and terrace deposits of Quaternary age (California Division of
Mines and Geology, 1977).
The depth to ground water at the property is approximately 10 feet below surface grade(bsg),based
on the map titled Lines of Equal Depth to Groundwater Spring 1996,published by the San Joaquin
County Flood Control District and Water Conservation District(FCD&WCD).Based upon previous
investigations performed by AGE at an adjacent site, ground water depth at the site ranges between
10 and 12 feet bsg.It is inferred from the map titled Lines ofEqual Elevation of Groundwater Spring
1996, also published by the FCD&WCD, that ground water flows toward the northwest in the
general area of the site, although this may be altered by changing recharge and discharge patterns.
Ground water is considered to be of beneficial use and is used for domestic, industrial and
commercial purposes.
3.0. SCOPE OF WORK
AGE proposes to collect soil and ground water samples to determine if petroleum
hydrocarbon-impacted soil and/or ground water is present beneath the site. The preliminary site
assessment will include the following tasks:
• Permitting and pre-field work activities;
• Soil and grab ground water sample collection and analysis;
• Report preparation
The preliminary site assessment tasks are discussed below.
3.1. PRE-FIELD WORK TASKS
A health and safety plan will be prepared in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health
Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities (National Institute for Occupational Safety
and Health Administration, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, 1985).
Prior to mobilization,the area of excavation will be clearly marked and a utility clearance obtained
through Underground Service Alert.
Advanced Geo Environmental,Inc.
