0
06 December 2004
AGE-NC Project No.04-1238
3.2. SOIL AND GRAB GROUND WATER SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
AGE proposes to advance up to four soil probe borings, using direct push technology,in the area of
the former USTs and piping and fuel dispenser locations to assess petroleum hydrocarbon-impacted
soil and ground water beneath the site. The four borings will be advanced to ground water or
saturated soil is encountered(approximately 15 to 20 feet bsg).Proposed probe boring locations and
depths may be modified due to field observations. As each boring is advanced, soil samples will be
collected at 5-foot intervals beginning at five feet bsg and extending to the total depth of the probe
boring.
The proposed probe boring locations are illustrated on Figure 2. Field procedures for advancement
ofprobe borings and collection of soil and grab ground water samples are presented in Sections 4.1.,
4.2., and 4.3..
Selected soil and grab ground water samples from each probe boring will be submitted for laboratory
analysis. The selected soil samples will be analyzed by a State of California Department of Health
Services (DHS)-certified laboratory for one or more the following constituents:
• TPH-g and TPH-d in accordance with EPA Method 8015M;
• BTEX by EPA Method 826013; and
• The oxygenated fuel additives MTBE, tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA), di-isopropyl ether
(RIPE), ethyl tertiary butyl ether (ETBE), tertiary amyl methyl ether (TAME), 1,2-
dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) and 1,2-dibromoethane(EDB)by EPA Method 8260B.
Laboratory reports for soil and grab ground water analysis, testing methods, laboratory quality
assurance/quality control (QA/QC) reports, and sample chain of custody documentation will be
presented in a report with findings and recommendations.
3.3. REPORT PREPARATION
Upon completion of field work and receipt of final laboratory analysis, a report will be prepared
presenting the findings of the investigation. The report will include a description of the work
performed and results of the sampling and analysis. Conclusions, applicable recommendations, and
maps will be included in the report.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
