114 V <br />• <br />GeoStrategies Inc. <br />2140 WEST WINTON AVENUE <br />HAYWARD, CALIFORNIA 94545 (510) 352-4800 <br />February 6, 1992 <br />Chevron U S A Inc <br />P O Box 5004 <br />San Ramon, California 94583-0804 <br />Attn Mr Ken Kan <br />Re TANK REMOVAL OBSERVATION REPORT <br />Chevron Service Station No 0959 <br />103 West Eleventh Street <br />Tracy, California <br />Gentlemen <br />INTRODUCTION <br />This report summarizes the field activities performed at the above referenced <br />site (Plate 1) during the recent removal of a 550 -gallon waste oil tank <br />Excavation activities were performed by Wendt Construction of Lodi, California <br />A GeoStrategies Inc (GSI) geologist was present on-site to observe the tank <br />removal and obtain soil samples from the excavation and related stockpiles A <br />ground -water sample was also collected from the excavation The sampling and <br />analyses described in this report were performed between January 8, and <br />January 14, 1992 to comply with current State of California Regional Water <br />Quality Control Board and San Joaquin County Department of Public Health <br />Services guidelines <br />SITE DESCRIP'T'ION <br />The site is currently occupied by an active Chevron Service Station The waste <br />oil tank was located north of the station building (Plate 2) <br />FIELD EXCAVATION ACTIVITIES <br />The waste oil tank was removed January 8, 1992 Tank removal and soil <br />sampling were witnessed by representatives of the Tracy Fire Department and <br />San Joaquin County Public Health Services Environmental Health Division <br />(SJCPHS) The excavation was approximately 10 feet by 9 feet by 6 feet deep <br />An estimated total of 15 cubic yards of soil was removed and stockpiled on- <br />site The tank was very rusty with numerous holes on each side and ends The <br />largest hole detected measured approximately 1 -inch by 3 -inches and was located <br />on the top of the tank <br />729702-2 <br />
