Limited Phase II Site Assessment Work Plan
239 West 11th Street
Tracy, California
Project No. 2E-1108004
Page 2
Based on review of a 2010 aerial photograph, the land use for the Site vicinity includes
mixed commercial and residential properties. The subject property is bounded to the south
by West 11th Street, to the west by Parker Avenue and commercial and residential
properties, to the north by 12th Street and commercial properties, and to the east by
commercial properties. The subject and adjacent properties are shown in Figure 2.
2. TECHNICAL APPROACH AND SCOPE OF SERVICES
2.1. Technical Approach
Giles proposes that the Limited Phase II ESA will be performed to evaluate the presence,
nature, and magnitude of the soil impacts. In addition, three temporary wells will be
constructed to determine whether the groundwater has been impacted.
Giles proposes to conduct a Limited Phase 11 ESA at the Site to determine whether soil
and/or groundwater have been impacted at the site. The Limited Phase II ESA field effort
will include up to five (5) direct -push soil borings for obtaining soil samples.
Three (3) temporary wells will be completed at the direct -push boring locations based on our
magnetometer survey. The intent of the proposed temporary wells is to facilitate the
collection of groundwater samples to assess whether groundwater has been impacted at the
Site.
2.2. Scope of Services
The following proposed PSA activities will be performed including:
• Prepare and implement a Site-specific health and safety plan in accordance with 29 CFR
1910 for field activities performed at the Site in accordance with the work plan.
• Complete five (5) direct -push soil borings; two soil borings are proposed at the southern
perimeter to establish whether the site has been impacted by off-site sources, and up to
additional three borings along the eastern perimeter of the building unless a UST tank
can be located from a magnometer survey. Soil borings will be advanced to 15 feet bgs
or to the depth of groundwater, which ever is encountered first.
• Install three (3) temporary wells from the soil borings to facilitate groundwater sample
collection.
• Abandon the direct -push soil borings in accordance with State and local guidelines.
GILES ENGINEERING ASSOCIATES, INC.
